Yes absolutely, so my background has always been in art, I started off in painting, then photography, and now also illustration! I am just a very creative person, and love to be able to create and share my voice in any way I can ! It’s imperative to me to make things that can help others in any way! What inspired you to start your business(es), and how did you know it was the right time to leap?
I am definitely the kind of person to get passionate about something I enjoy, and manage to turn it into a full-blown career, I just cant help it! I am passionate about the things I make, and love being able to work for myself while making my own rules.Who has influenced your journey the most, whether personally, professionally, or creatively, and how?
My wife has influenced my journey the most, she believes in me and every single thing i create, always inspires me to be better, and to take the things i love seriously.
What dreams did you have as a kid, and how do they connect to what you’re doing now?
I always dreamt as a kid of drawing and creating things that make people happy, and I feel like that connects to what I do now. @doodlegems is a great way to connect with so many people online, and I think now more than ever sharing my voice as an LGBTQ+ person is so important.
” Self-care and taking care of yourself mentally and physically play such an important role in being a creative person, feeling creative, and being able to create things.”What role does self-care play in your ability to pursue your goals?
A huge role, self care and taking care of yourself mentally and physically plays such an important role in being a creative person, feeling creative, and being able to create things.
What drives you to keep going on the hard days?
What drives me is the idea that every single person’s voice matters, including mine. It also drives me to think about how important all forms of representation are, especially in the art space. Creating things is therapeutic to me, and something that brings me joy!How do you define success for yourself at this stage of your life?
I think success is being happy with the things that you are doing, and truly being fulfilled by what you take on.What role does your identity (e.g., gender, race, culture) play in your work and vision?
This plays a huge role in my work and vision, as a queer person that is also jewish (even though my work isnt always about one or either of those things) I think it is incredibly important to be visible, and have my voice heard especially in moments where it matters. Unique voices deserve to be heard. I think that every single space needs more diversity.
“Just be yourself; that is something that people will always respond to.”
9. What advice has been the most impactful for you, and how do you apply it in your work and life?
Just be yourself, and that is something that people will always respond to.
10. How do you ensure your work aligns with your personal values?
I am only ever creating things that align with my personal values, I would never make something just because I think it will get likes, I only make things that deeply align and are therapeutic to me, things that would make me feel good if I was the one seeing them.
