In-Depth Questions
Tell me a little about who you are:
I identify as a world traveler, ukulele player, and hiking enthusiast who feels most alive when I’m seeing new things, whether across town or across the world. In general and through my podcast, Going Out Your Door, I hope to inspire people to shake up their own lives and explore, and I try to make the world a better place in any small way in the process.
What dream are you currently chasing?
To see every new thing that I can, to not live a life in one location but also appreciate wherever I am in the moment, and to inspire others to see new things and have new experiences.
How do you unwind?
With a book, a cup of coffee, and sunshine.
Can you share your proudest achievement?
My proudest achievement was probably the moment I realized I was living the life my teenage self had yearned for. I don’t remember exactly when or where I had that realization, but at some point in the past few years, I had one of those moments where you take a step back and marvel at the situation you’re in (probably it was something as mundane as walking through the neighborhood I lived in in Taipei) and realize that you’re doing exactly what your 16-year-old self dreamed of!
What’s the biggest obstacle you have faced trying to achieve your goals?
I consistently get hung up on the first step: defining my goals! I think it’s wonderful when people are told to pursue their dreams and their passions, but when that opens up everything to you, it can be hard to define what you want to dedicate yourself to! As far as problems go, it’s a privileged one to have, but it’s a blocker for me. Multipotentialites, unite!
Can you tell us one time you failed and when you learned from that failure?
For me, failure is usually interpreted as “that was not for me” or “try something else.” Working at a tech firm in the US? It certainly didn’t work out, but I also learned that that environment was not what I wanted!
What do you hope people will take away from your story?
That changing your life, gaining new perspective, or seeing the world starts with just going out your door and that there is so, so much to be seen and understood out there.
How do you get inspired or motivated?
Putting a trip on the calendar! There is nothing that gets my wheels turning or makes my soul sing quite like planning to travel somewhere new.
Anything else you want people to know?
I’m always happy to chat travel or anything else and I enjoy connecting with people from around the world!
